There are so many opportunities for hiking at Elk & Embers! On any hike from our property, you’ll enjoy the serene and peaceful surroundings and you may get to see some wildlife! From pheasants, to wild turkey, deer, elk and even bear, there are thousands of creatures that call the Great Smoky Mountains their home.

Hike to Cataloochee
The hike to Cataloochee in the Great Smoky Mountains of North Carolina is a journey into a valley rich with history and natural splendor. Directions: Cataloochee divide to McKee Branch (70 minutes), 2.1 miles
Right 2.3 miles (another 70 minutes) to Caldwell Fork (right) to Big Fork Ridge Trail (0.1 mi), then left and go 3.1 miles (100 minutes) to Cataloochee Valley
